Idaho National Laboratory.

The research, people, and conversations shaping our energy future.

The setting

Science,
seen clearly.

Idaho National Laboratory is the U.S. Department of Energy’s lead laboratory for nuclear energy research and development. Its work spans advanced nuclear technologies, integrated energy systems, and national security.

More than 6,000 researchers, engineers, technicians, and support staff contribute to that mission, with facilities spread across an 890-square-mile site in eastern Idaho.

About Idaho National Laboratory

Across the laboratory

Documenting this range of work means moving from nuclear reactors and active research labs to the on-site fire department and the teams that keep the laboratory running. Each setting has its own pace and technical demands. The challenge is to make the work understandable through thoughtful composition and adaptable lighting, while keeping the people behind it at the heart of the story.

Important visits

Documenting visits by U.S. Secretaries of Energy, Department of Energy staff, and other leaders brings a different pace. The focus shifts to the conversations, demonstrations, and unscripted moments that connect the research with the people helping guide its future.
