Make thoughtful photographs of family, friends, or the things you enjoy. Get comfortable with focus, exposure, and finding a stronger frame.
Learn to make photographs you’re proud of, with one-on-one lessons built around your camera, your experience, and what you want to photograph.
For beginners, hobbyists, and anyone ready to feel more at home with their camera.

Maybe you’ve just bought a camera. Maybe you’ve had one for years and still find yourself guessing. Or perhaps you like your photographs, but want to understand how to make them more consistently.
We’ll start with what you know, look at the pictures you want to make, and choose a few practical goals. You’ll have time to ask questions, try things for yourself, and get feedback as you learn.
The subjects are yours. We’ll build the lessons around the skills that help you photograph them.

Hands-on learning, room for questions, and guidance at your pace.
Simple exercises between sessions, feedback on your photographs, and notes to help you keep practicing.
We’ll agree on the location, schedule, and focus before booking. Any travel, studio rental, or special setup costs will be discussed separately.
Sessions are usually spaced one or two weeks apart, so you can put what you learn into practice. Here’s how your three sessions might unfold.
Look at a few of your images, talk through what feels confusing, and start practicing the camera controls or techniques that will make the biggest difference.
Review what you’ve been making, then photograph together. We might work on sharper pictures, natural light, composition, or photographing people—depending on your goals.
Review your photographs, work through an editing process if that’s useful to you, and leave with clear next steps for continued practice.

I’m a photographer and filmmaker based in Southeast Idaho. My work takes me from carefully lit products and portraits to stories on location.
These lessons bring that practical experience to the photographs you want to make. We’ll work with real examples, explore the decisions behind an image, and give you plenty of time behind your own camera.

Yes. We can start with the controls on your camera and build from there. You don’t need to know the terminology or have a portfolio. Tell me what you enjoy photographing and what you find frustrating.
Start with the camera and lens you already have, a charged battery, and a memory card. Tell me your camera model before we meet so I can plan around it. If you’re still deciding what equipment you need, mention that in your inquiry.
We’ll arrange a suitable location in Southeast Idaho based on what you want to learn. An editing or image-review session can also be arranged online. We’ll confirm the format, travel, and any location costs before you book.
The content is personalized. A beginner might focus on camera controls and natural light; someone more comfortable with their camera might work on composition, portraits, or editing. Together, we’ll choose a manageable focus for your three sessions.
You’ll have a small exercise to try between sessions. Bring up to ten photographs from that exercise to the next session, and we’ll review them together. You’ll also receive simple takeaways to guide your practice.
Only if editing is part of your learning plan. Let me know which software you use, if any. We’ll agree on what’s needed before the session; editing software and equipment aren’t included in the package.
Absolutely. Additional private sessions are $200 for 90 minutes. Book one when you’d like more guidance, or we can discuss a rhythm that suits you.
Tell me a little about yourself, your camera, and what you want to photograph. I’ll be in touch to talk through a plan and availability.
